inch was a millimeter error, it was fixed when foreign step files (usa) made inch inches to millimeters.

I had the same problem with a few of my models. It turned out that when I (or whoever) modeled them the head and shaft were two bodies. When I combined them into a single body that problem went away. I do not use the mirror feature in sheet metal, the reason is that it gives errors very often, restricts freedoms, and sheet metal features cannot be used on the mirrored part. sw2020sp03

That's because it goes through every single file to hide any referenced geometry, so if the assembly is quite big, with a lot of referenced geometry such as planes, sketches, insert points, coordinate systems, etc, it can take a lot of time. It doesn't just hide bend lines, it hides other sketches ...

As far as I know, macros are limited features, so VBA is sufficient.
VS (c#, "vb") is used to use many innovations and differences.
Example: Ribbon menu, FeatureManager, plugin, sw independent sw utilities.
Maybe when VBA isn't enough for a simple macro. (QR code etc.)
