ours sell an add-in package with a snl log analyzer, but I think every big VAR has its own package of custom tools.

I can not find that setting... Unfortunately, these drawings are in the same folders as their respective parts. Right-click a user or group and select Settings. I found the problem: that pc was from another former employer and his folder inside the vault was moved to another place leaving a gray folder in its former pc.
the files inside that folder were not read-only so pdm has not deleted them. correctly.

What registry entry is of you concern?
Server side entries like usercache should be recreated.
You need to allow the access from AD adding the new user names you modified in the db in the archive server as well.

maintaining PDM data is already a pain with single configuration, not to mention that the file version upgrade utility is completely broken and iy is even more broken with multi configuration parts. the simpler yhe better.
