Re: SolidWorks: Radeon Pro W6800 and Vulkan Viewport
Quick update: AMD released the 22.Q3 driver last week and HOLY FPS BATMAN! It has completely supercharged my Radeon Pro W6800 in Solidworks 2021. I am seeing framerates 3x-4x higher than any of the previous drivers. I am also running into far fewer graphical glitches than I have in the past. I highl...

100Deg Countersinks in ANSI Inch Hole Wizard as the Default
When I am using the Hole Wizard and switching between hole types, the countersink angle for ANSI Inch is now defaulting to 100 degrees in my 2021 SP5.1 install. ANSI Inch countersunk bolts are almost always 82 degrees and the "wrong" default has slipped by me a few times now. So far I have...

Re: NVIDIA TDR error? Anyone seen this before?
On my system I had not manually changed it, but TdrDelay was already set to 10 seconds instead of the default of 2 listed in the Microsoft article. I've had both NVIDIA and AMD pro cards in this workstation so I am suspecting one of the gfx vendor's driver tweaks it up a bit from the default upon in...

Re: NVIDIA TDR error? Anyone seen this before?
I just visited the link [1] in the error message and found that if you receive this message "the application was unable to continue rendering because the Microsoft Windows imposed time limit (TDR) was exceeded. This is normally the case when the workload sent to the graphics card is greater tha...

Re: SolidWorks: Radeon Pro W6800 and Vulkan Viewport
It looks like the W6800 got added to the solidworks hardware certification page sometime in the last few days! They are recommending the AMD 21.Q2 driver.

Re: SolidWorks: Radeon Pro W6800 and Vulkan Viewport
I unfortunately don't have access to simulation installed anywhere, so can't speak on it. Just in case it is still helpful, I've attached the Radeon and Solidworks graphics settings I've found work best for me in vanilla Solidworks. The big ones in Solidworks where turning draft quality ambient occl...

SolidWorks: Radeon Pro W6800 and Vulkan Viewport
Is anyone else using the new AMD Radeon Pro W6800 yet on SolidWorks 2021? It has 32GB of GPU memory for that hungry graphics "performance" pipeline! I've been running it for a few months now. One of these days I will learn my lesson and stop living on the bleeding edge. It had a pretty bad...
