Re: Intersection lines not showing in shaded view
Your lines are not showing due to your steel girder crashing through the pipes. Need to to move the girder to outside edge or give pipes a relieve cut for the girder to fit down through. Point of crash image.png Relieve cut image.png Part with pipe cut to allow for insertion of girder and showing in...

Re: Solidworks is out of Memory.!!
Windows still based on DOS. 8.3 and "path too long" are DOS problems. Some of it are legacy library the software is using. LOL! I was just fixing to state the above! And I think we'd be surprised how many programs from the 90's and before because of legacy data still have DOS limitations.

Re: DXF/DWG Model View Export
Here is a link that has a macro that we use to retrieve DXF file for laser cutting from our assemblies and/or multibody parts. We also create all our laser cut parts using the sheet metal feature rather then boss extrude. Even those without bends. The macro we use is in the 4th post down. I believe ...

Re: Axis lines when creating a new sketch
Option 2: Create the sketch and then do "File, Save As" and then change it to a "Part Template". This will then make it so that when you open anew Part file and use that template the sketch will always be there. This is what I'd probably do. Though I have not tried it out to see...

Re: Multi-body part to assembly
Just use them as dumb solids. Depends on how the other model it, most likely all the features are related to each other. It'll be a mess trying to figure out which feature will change what. This is very true. I have been thinking about this while I am working on a custom truck body. (Yep it's multi...

Hmm... I thought it was just me! I was working on an assembly yesterday & the one part kept suppressing itself & I thought I must have accidently did a keystroke combination to suppress a part without knowing it, like hovering your mouse over a part & pressing the tab key hides component...

Re: transitioning from a straight line to a fillet to a straight line
Thanks Glenn Schroeder ! This looks like it'll be a benefit to my sketching in more ways than one! :D You might need to have this checked: image.png This is what I normally would do. Or sketch with corners and add fillets after. https://help.solidworks.com/2021/english/SolidWorks/sldworks/c_Sketch_F...

Re: transitioning from a straight line to a fillet to a straight line
For me it depends on the situation. If I just need one then I move my cursor back to the end of the straight line, like shown in the video @Frederick_Law posted. If I want multiple fillets, and especially if I want them equal, I use the sketch fillet tool. I am of the same mind as Glenn. It all dep...

Re: Is it possible to force a 1:1 drawing insertion scale?
Ah, now I see that from the .SLDPRT: File -> Save As -> .dxf is a more direct and efficient workflow than doing a .SLDDRW first. And 1:1 is default / implied. I would like to make a macro / API do to this in one click. Should that be possible? Thanks. Hello Mike, I don't know if this is what you ar...

This does make sense to me BUT why does the sketch not generate as full defined when you 1st make the feature? Is this something that I have to get used to or is there a reason? I don't know why & I have come to the conclusion that I'm not sure that it matters. It is the same question asked in ...

Re: mirroring sheet metal parts
Plus it almost never fails that we will add holes or other cuts on the mirrored part that won't be in the original part. And then after you do that minor change, awhile later, "we need this hole/cut/bent flange on the original but moved just a fraction". Especially since a lot of or work ...

So I have it on as visual as to when a sketch is closed or open. Sketch shaded? Sketch closed. Not shaded? Sketch is open. Probably not a big deal but is nice to know when I might be able to use "base flange" or an "Extrude Feature". Also I never noticed that I could not select s...

Re: Mirrored Components with Hole Wizard Features
I just discovered that "Corner Relief" in sheet metal does not carry over on a mirrored part correctly either. The formed part looked correct but as soon as I flattened it the relief disappeared. Our VAR told me the only fix was to add the Corner Relief into the tree of the mirrored part.

Thanks I believe I understand what you did. I just tried it & crashed my program again. I do have my VAR on the issue but they have had the part most of the week & I haven't heard anything back. I also tried to do the flatten by unsuppressing each Flat-Pattern & then suppressing it &...

Problems exporting Flat-Patterns to DXF from Multi-Body part
Good day friends, I am having an issue that I have not run across in my 1½ years of CAD work. I am currently using Solidworks 2022 SP 5.0. I have created quite a few parts, Multi-Body parts, Assemblies, and a few drawings. But I cannot export the DXF in my normal work flow. I normally use a macro th...

Re: Tab & Slot in Multiple parts
I assume that you are talking about Multi-Bodied parts because I have not found a way to use the tab & slot feature in an assembly. The only way we have found to make this work somewhat, is to create a corresponding cut extrude over the current slot & then patterning that along with the part...

Convert Solid to sheet metal
I had watched a video from To Tall Toby a week ago that took a solid & converted it to sheet metal.
I tried to create a shield from a solid but I can't seem to get it to work without a large relief. Would like the relief to be almost touching to get a smoth weld. Any ideas would be helpful.

Re: Adding quantity and thickness to the name while saving the file
We have been using this Macro from @artem 's also. It works very well. We have modified it to give us the quantity of parts needed of a particular DXF, if a multi bodied part has a linear pattern or a mirror image, by using the following: Const OUT_NAME_TEMPLATE As String = "<$CLPRP:Sheet Metal...
