I attempted a markup of what I am referring to.
One thing I also noticed is that the product (at least in the photos I have seen) seems not to cut "flat" at the end, rather the rectangular(-ish?) sections are left whole, producing that pointed end as it wraps around.

Thank you for the responses, I'm studying in detail. Dennis Bacon the result in the 7:20 post looks almost dead-on to the real thing. One observation I made (I did not use a real photo for confidentiality reasons) is that the seam lines for the individual sections appear to "rotate" along ...

Modeling spiral-wound steel cylinder in Solidworks
One of our groups that uses Solidworks is asking to try out NX because they don't believe that Solidworks is capable of modeling their product, which is a very large spiral-wound steel cylinder made from curved rectangular (?) plates. Picture a paper towel tube but made from short lengths rather tha...

Re: server renewal
What you could theoretically do is: 0. Install PDM archive server on the new server (B) but do not replicate the vault to it 1. put the system into maintenance, disconnect all users, block logins etc. 2. copy the archive folder from old server (A) onto B 3. Make a copy of archive server settings on ...

Document Manager API XML streams questions
Greetings, I have recently started exploring the XML stream functionality of the SWDM. I was curious if anyone is aware of a reliable means of identifying virtual parts in the XML file. For example, a file reports 0 references through conventional API methods; but open extracting the XML, it contain...

Re: Latest version is not the same on 3 PCS
One cannot rule out odd network-related corruption as files go to/from client and server. We observed this very thing happen during check-ins and traced it to some settings in our VPN (Zscaler), the file would corrupt during the check-in to the server so the file creator had the only good copy, the ...

I would check the reference/file locations/search paths for the 3 different PCs. Are there any differences in them? Could some of the PCs be opening the file not from PDM but from another location? Could it be that one of these users has a difference in their permissions that is causing them to be u...

I am told by a user who has encountered what I believe is this same issue, that you need to be careful about the character ` vs ' in the equation string:
={1}`Weight`*'Qty.'
Perhaps try making it:
={1}'Weight'*'Qty.'
={1}`Weight`*'Qty.'
Perhaps try making it:

Hello all, Our company likes to have all applications on Citrix as much as possible. Re: How to track SolidWorks network license utilization
I wrote a tool that runs as a scheduled task on our CAD machines, it calls lmutils.exe, consumes and parses the output then stores that in a couple SQL tables. Re: Getting realistic water surface representation in Flow Simulation
It would be interesting to see if something like this is easier to get set up in a VFX/mesh modeling application like Blender than it is in an engineering CAD package like SW. My intuition is that SW's simulation would make it easy to simulate the individual portions of your idea with high fidelity,...

This is some interesting testing. I had no idea about the \ appending to the path allowing you to view local even with PDM running, I will need to test that. I am not sure that there is any way that activity performed directly on the vault view folder is capable of causing the server to lose data. T...

These posts explain behaviors I've seen in my current user group. They favor Search.exe over Explorer.exe for accessing vault files; and I have seen an unusually high rate of "blue folder issues" with this group.
The automatic login sounds like it should help with the caching issue
