Jim The SSP file does not have to be in the assembly if it's in the component part files. I find it it best to not create in-context relations, meaning relations made within the assembly, which can easily lead to trouble. Leaving the SSP out of the assembly helps you to avoid those problems. On the ...

Thanks, those are helpful. I find I must learn more about the basics of API to make progress, so that is what I am doing. I find Peter Brinkhuis at CADBooster and Luke Malpass at Anglefire both helpful. I do prefer to read and am not much for watching videos.

You are right. I had thought I'd seen that done in a presentation, and I have occasionally used saved section views, but I never did use one in a drawing. I see now that help does say that you can't use them in drawings.

For sketch arrays, add a new sketch element that shows the array center. Allow relations to the array center. Update the array center when the array counts and the array dimensions change.

I looked at it more. I am using SW2018, so maybe they just changed how it looks in your version. Shouldn't make a difference. I do have that checked, and views preview when I move them.
I'm looking at the "Model View" window when first placing a view from a model. There's a "Preview" check box that causes placement box to preview. It works when I check it, but I'd like to have it on by default.

Thanks to everyone. I figured it would come down to a macro. We are transitioning from SAP to Teamcenter, which interacts with the configuration specific properties. We use Description in Windows Explorer, which takes the Global Description. Maybe that's too much to worry about, but I am used to it....

At least 80% of my spline issues went away when I started using Bezier type Style Splines. They can be specified in just the way that fits my design intent, and I find they can be both fully defined and edited reliably.

As others have said, mirroring is solid, and mirroring bodies often works best. I use Hole Wizard as much as I can to simplify assemblies. I populate fasteners with Pattern Driven Patterns at every opportunity. I will even mirror bodies first and then add a Hole Wizard after, even though this makes ...
