Carrie is getting closer to what I had in mind. Model organization is vital regardless of platform.
Assembly design techniques also are a good example. Top-down design and in-context design principles are universal. So is use of layout sketches.

Re: Would like a sound, a "Beep", prior to or at the end of a macro
If you want to use sound files, you would do well to learn about resource modules in VB. A resource module lets you store files for access by the program, without having to have the file reside at a specific address on your drive. disclaimer: My API kung fu is old. This is VB6 or VBA circa 2010. It ...

I would just kick it back and insist on a dxf (or at least STEP). They need to learn appropriate formats for manufacturing, and (hopefully) pass this knowledge on to their students. Re: Would like a sound, a "Beep", prior to or at the end of a macro
There's a trick to going up the chromatic scale. Each half-step's frequency is 2^(1/12) times greater than the previous. You can extend this ad infinitum. Take A=440Hz B is two half-steps higher --> B = A * 2^( 2 /12) C is 3 half-steps greater --> C = A * 2^( 3 /12) Note an octave's frequency is dou...

Faster way to collect interior surfaces is to copy the solid body and use Delete Face to remove the top edge. This is useful if there are a lot of small faces to collect on the interior.

Sometimes STEP export turns planes and revolves into B-surfaces. That sucks, but there's a simple, stupid fix:
Export as STEP203 and reimport. Often this re-translates the B-surfaces into revolves and planes. Why? I don't know.
This also works on other CAD platforms. Used this is NX recently.

Boolean the hard way!
Got a feature that absolutely refuses to unite/subtract/intersect? Turn the solids into surfaces using Delete Face or other means. Trim pieces to match. Then knit into a solid.
The true miracle is that SW will recognize the result as the same solid after the knit operation.
