Re: Solidworks surfacing tools enhancements

I've been using splines intensively for the last 6 months developing valve bodies from old prints and cutout templates. The templates reflect the shape of the valve body at defined sections. Kind of like how the template for developing the hull of a boat A lot of very organic shapes with these valve...

Solidworks surfacing tools enhancements

I'm currently using SW 2017. Are the tools in any of the newer versions that are substantially better? Either new tools or better performance.

Re: Casting Experts?

I've been involved with sand casting issues for years. Biggest issues have been from castings from China. However, there have been issues with castings the company I worked for has poured as well, which I think sometimes has to deal with if they are using purchased ingot or re-melted castings. From ...

Re: Constraining a scaled sketch in SW 2017

I did forget to mention the basic process:

1. Convert entities of existing surface edges
2. Scale one selection of entities with one scale factor
3. Scale the other entities with another scale factor.
4. Scaled edges are then constrained using the a "fix" constraint.

Re: Constraining a scaled sketch in SW 2017

I just got done typing explaining the lenthy process and accidentally closed the window and lost everything! Not going to do it again right now! :( See attached image file. Bottom line this is a reverse engineering project involving large sand castings that were originally created with physical temp...

Constraining a scaled sketch in SW 2017

I don't think there is a way to constrain or control a scaled sketch other than create a block first. Are there any tools that give you this kind of control in newer versions of Solidworks?

Just to clarify, what I'm look for is a way to modify a scaled sketch.
