Re: Dummy Part Linked to Master Part
Quickly, I'll just mention why I cant use configurations or anything else in my master part. These drawings are going to be used for custom products, so in a way, I cant predict the future about what dimensions will be used. In addition to that, I'm trying to minimise the number of steps it takes to...

Dummy Part Linked to Master Part
Hi Everyone, Got a bit of a strange one I can't wrap my head around. I've got an assembly (circular aluminium profile), that is split down the middle. There is a joining plate sub-assembly used here that secures each half together. The joining plate sub-assem has it's own master drawing that is mode...

Re: Standard Drawings Template Pack
Ok mate, ill give that a go. I thought the update references dialog was only keeping the link between models and drawings, not external files. I'll have a look.

Re: Solidworks 2021 Linking BOM CELL (item no) to NOTE
I usually balloon the item again remove the leader, placing the balloon outside the drawing frame. Then when you click on the balloon when writing the note it should pop up corrected, it also updates should the item no. change.

Re: Standard Drawings Template Pack
Copy tree is just pack & go but inside PDM, so i'm not sure what you mean. Also creating an assembly that can change size isn't the problem, its the loss of relation when using copy tree that is.

Re: Standard Drawings Template Pack
Ok cool.
Glenn I tried that method but it lost the relation during copy tree. Cheers.

Standard Drawings Template Pack
Hi All, I'm currently working on a drawing pack that can be used by other engineers to get new products to production quicker. Basically, it's a set of generalised models/drawings that have global variables that the user can change to quickly output new drawings. The way it’s currently set up is you...

Re: DXF/DWG Model View Export
Bnemec - ok, noted. I'm not sure why using sheet metal would be beneficial as these parts are not bent or any other process. They are just flat parts which require cutting. Sorry if I'm not being clear but it's hard to explain without showing you. We sub contract metal parts, and just CNC wood and a...

Re: DXF/DWG Model View Export
Thanks. Alex these are not sheet metal parts, so flat patterns will rarely be used.
Bnemec, I'm not sure I'm 100% following as I'm relatively new in the design world. This is for Laser Cutting and CNC. I'll follow those guides and get back to you if I run into trouble. Thanks very much!

Re: DXF/DWG Model View Export
Cheers for the quick reply, good questions. Basically, the reason for wanting model views instead of drawing is to do with scale. In the past when I've exported from drawing, if the scale for the sheet isn't set to 1:1, it gets confused and is the wrong size. Again, this is obviously something I cou...

DXF/DWG Model View Export
Hi Everyone, I've been setting up my macros for my new job and encountered an issue. I can't seem to find a macro that exports either dwg or dxf files from the model. I managed to find one that exports the top view, but if the part was drawn on another plane it's incorrect for use on the CNC (Attach...
