Re: Possible to insert .PDF into SWX drawing?

Use the Adobe snapshot tool and paste the image from the clipboard to your drawing sheet. Has worked well for me since you can control the copied image resolution. Crisp display. Open the Preferences in Adobe Reader. Go to Category "General" and look for °use fixed resolution for snapshot ...

Re: Solidworks Memory Usage

Hi Frederic Why do you export the whole thing. Why not break it down first and export it in chunks. For large and difficult files I use the delete body feature, selection sets in combination with save-as-selected body function. Other handy tools. Insert weldment feature and let SW collect all identi...

Images posted in Threads don't display

General Forum question My Browser doesn't display the images in any of the posts. I used to be able to see them properly. Is there a setting anywhere that controls the display of images within threads. I use MSEdge latest. But neither Chrome nor the old IE Explorer show diplay any of the images. Bea...

Re: How to cleanly import DWG w zero length lines

My tip would be to clean up the DWG before you import it. It pays of in the end. Especially on larger more detailed DWG. I often need to bring in 3 Orthogonal views from old DWG 2D designs. Draft sight and AutoCAD share the same commands. The most used tools are: Remove uneeded objects: - Selectmatc...

Re: Dirty Files and what causes them.

Hi Alex, My bad. I assumed it was something you had actually worked with. That cleared things up. If this trick doesn't do it then I would import my old file into a part file created from a new-template and break the link using the "import feature" option. But again haven't tried it myself...

Re: Dirty Files and what causes them.

Rename sldprt to txt and open in notepad.exe Search for "_ M O _ V E R S I O N _" This is followed by a number i.e. 7000 That would be Case 6001 To 7000 swFileVersion = "SOLIDWORKS 2014" See list below. Case 10001 To 11000 swFileVersion = "SOLIDWORKS 2018" Case 9001 To ...

Re: Dirty Files and what causes them.

Hello Dan, I don't know how the save-as template code really works. This trick was posted by Alex Lachence and his SW VAR and address some issues related with files build on old templates. Not saying it's a one-fix all solutions. But if I was in bind I would look into it. Particuallarly when you use...

Re: Dirty Files and what causes them.

Hi Dan, First you need to create new template files from scratch. Go to options and dhange the path pointing to the Document Templates file location to an empty folder. That will force SW to generate new templates. You will need to use the new templates that are generated to update your old files. T...

Re: Dirty Files and what causes them.

Hi Rob, Have you tried a stringen evaluate check to see if there are any components with hidden errors. If you have problems with one particular part then you could try to replace the part template. Although I seem to remember that it doesn't work with external references inside. But maybe you can f...

Re: Laser cut square tube

Here is a trick I learned from Solidsolutions 1. Create your WM with corner treatment gap 1 mm image.png 2. Create a library feature to add cuts where the bends are image.png image.png 3. Use the sketch from the library feature to add bends image.png 4. combine bodies into one image.png 5. flatten i...

Re: How to place point at the center of a sphere?

Hello Marc,

I would create a plane that intersects the sphere at any given distance. Create the 3D sketch as shown in the image using equal distance constraints and you will have your center point.
