This is a quick overview of some of the more advanced feature pattern types in SolidWorks. Curve driven, table driven, sketch driven, as well as Fill and Variable patterns. This is more an overview than a detailed tutorial.

SolidWorks Curves and Flex Features
I think a lot of people don't use curves because they don't know they're there or how to use them. Or maybe they just make straight parts. Anyway, here's more than you wanted to know about curves and the Flex feature. My movies are always about 3x longer than you want them to be, so as a tip, just s...

So as far as PDM, that isn't the issue, good thought but no, this has been happening many years even if we turned off WorkGroup, or currently log out of PDM. Fredrick, no configs created but again, a good thought..... Is it maybe an issue with the rollback bar? Do you use the Freeze bar? Or maybe a...

Fully defined till it's moved, up to then it is fully defined as stated. Very similar to "If a tree falls in the forest and there is no one there to hear it, does it make a sound?" Blue lines are the same. Don't move until they do. Don't see the difference. Blue lines don't make no sound.

Re: SOLIDWORKS pet peeves
That behavior is actually designed in. I remember reading a post from one of the Solidworks employees mentioning that the line is fully defined until you drag it. Then it isn't. This is so that you can easily get a partial line or and extension. Right, but it defeats the purpose of fully defining y...

Re: SOLIDWORKS pet peeves
I learned years ago that in many cases it's not necessary to restrain the end points of center lines, and in fact, as long as the location of the line itself is fully defined the sketch will show as fully defined even if the end points aren't. image.png Sometimes that little status block lies. Here...

I just finished a project with some heavy external references. In my view external references are better than in-context assembly references. Don't criticize stuff just out of habit. NX is for the enterprise, and SE is for small business, startups, and people who can't afford NX.
