Faster way to collect interior surfaces is to copy the solid body and use Delete Face to remove the top edge. This is useful if there are a lot of small faces to collect on the interior. That would be a cool way to do it if the hopper were a single solid body , but it's not. The hopper is made of a...

I've occasionally done something similar, usually to drive a 3d sketch. I typically use the "Delete Bodies" feature when I'm finished referencing it. That gets rid of it, but keeps all references intact.

Speaking of eye strain, a previous office manager here where I work had a custom mouse icon. Instead of the arrow it was a galloping horse, and its nose was the equivalent of the point of the conventional arrow. I guess she liked it, but that constant motion would drive me straight up the wall.

Weldments (as I understand the term) can be, but don't have to be, multi-body Parts. If single body, there's no reason why they can't be used in multiple unrelated Assemblies. To me there are a couple of huge advantages to using weldments. The first is that it eliminates the need to draw the profile...

To be honest, most of the time I just model it as-built, and add a note in the drawing saying something like "Cut notch at XX° through three faces, bend, and weld," with a weld symbol pointing to the joint.
I haven't had any issues yet. I also realize this isn't possible in all situations.
