For some fun, I just got a chocolate printer. My wife even lets me put it in the kitchen.

Collaborative Design
I saw this table the other day. Most of them make sense or are so small they don't really matter (e.g. AI) However, we had a debate about what "Collaborative Design" really meant. What do you think it means or what do you think it should mean? https://www.cadalyst.com/cadalyst/cad-trends-s...

Clubhouse - The latest in Social Media!
In case anyone is interested in 'clubhouse' I have some invites.
If you don't know what clubhouse is, you are lucky. Move along and don't get sucked in.
However, if you have a social media addiction, I can send you an invite. I could use a few more CAD discussions.

Re: DRM for CAD
Blockchain is being looked at for 3D printing too. The last thing most companies want is for a competitor to be able to grab your STL or similar parts and start manufacturing what you just spend many $$$ and hours creating. Perhaps as important is someone tampering with the file in a way that screws...

Re: Future of CAD
5 years down the line, the CAD landscape will be much the same as now, but the direction of travel will be much clearer. Yep. I think one issue (and something I do myself) is that if you are in the middle of the the "long tail" things, you don't always realize you are not anywhere close t...

Re: Future of CAD
Darn, late to the party. My wife had had me cleaning the basement the last 4 days and just let me out. matt Additive ends up in my conversations a lot mainly because it is driving change in design tools. Let me say upfront that I realize it is just another manufacturing technology like sheet metal b...

Re: What is your 3D Printer?
I had access to a Stratasys uPrint SE for a while. It was a pretty good machine although the solvent bath for supports was a bit of a pain.
SLA makes some better prints but what a gooey mess :-(

Re: Maker Version
@jcpriotti, it looks like the student version of SW. This is just for home experimentation so that is fine.
@Mattpeneguy , reading though it again, I think I misunderstood and that they are providing it though organizations (like EAA that you mentioned). I have a Fablab near me that I can check out.

Re: Creating your own CAD Forum
Haha! My Avatar is from 2007 and now I can't get rid of it or no one will know me. I think immersive environments are great but I learned from back then that those things have a limited appeal. I fear the young 'uns are learning this again with AR and VR.

Maker Version
Has anyone got the SolidWorks Maker version? I was thinking of getting it but it is a pretty long application form that seems to assume I'm a startup.

What is your 3D Printer?
What is your 3D printer and what do you think about it? I've got 3 printers at home plus an Ultimaker 3ex I brought from work during COVID19. I mainly use them to test out some designs but 20% of the time it is for useful stuff like mounting brackets or special tools. 30% is likely for stupid deskto...

Re: Creating your own CAD Forum
Thanks, matt.
I did just do a podcast for DesignWorld. Would be good to hear from real designers where they think CAD should go :-)
