Re: PDM API why do file references rely on the "parentFolder" that the child file is found in?
Why does file.GetReferenceTree(ParentFolder.ID) need a specific folder for the file I'm getting references for? I would guess that this is because a PDM file can be in more than one folder: https://help.solidworks.com/2021/english/enterprisepdm/fileexplorer/c_shared_files.htm Of course, you aren't ...

The way I would generally approach a part that is purchased and then modified is to make an assembly of the part and make the modifications on the purchased part in the assembly. I did a quick test where I created a part with no custom properties. When I save it to PDM, the mapped properties get added. Link a variable on the data card to the revision and to a custom property in the part model. I have a Rev column in my BOM template for manufactured parts that works this way.

The longer we use PDM the more it seems to be built on the premise that the version in local cache should always be latest and that every where used of a file will always be using latest version. Also learning in many ways that not doing that will cause PDM to fight you in many many ways. Is anyone...

To use it, you simply wrap the code in 'code' tags and put the name of the programming language as an attribute. So this: [ code=java] public class HelloWorld { public static void main(String[ ]args) { System.out.println("Hello World!"); } } [ /code] becomes this: public class HelloWorld {...
