So they're closing the Swym Enhancement Requests community to new ideas. I think the problem was determined to be "people are making too many enhancement requests" and the solution was "stop them making requests" not "fix the underlying structural, software and philosophical...

Re: How do people dimension to Silhouette Points in SW?
What kind of stuff are you modeling? I must be doing it all wrong! The sketches I make in a model are 90% useless in a drawing. Didn't we move away from making 2D drawings and move to making 3D models and placing dimensions to geometry a couple decades ago? I've done a combination of oil/gas drilli...

Re: How do people dimension to spline edges in SW?
Dimension in the model and use Import Model Items in the drawing always works for me, especially for the sorts of dimensions that would be flaky when applied in the drawing environment.

If your policies restrict you so much with regards to installing software then I don't think any of your management would be terribly happy with you taking your models and just uploading them to OnShape / Google Drive, no?

Re: Send Revision Number to ERP for Revision numbering on Orders
My current main new product development has 125 items out of 298 (distinct) items on the BOM as new items, however creating NEW objects in our ERP is fine as they all default to Rev 0, the same as they are in PDM. Revisions to products on an ECN would then only typically be <10 parts per ECN which i...

I've been asking the automation question since I arrived at the company, though such was the state of things at that point even the manual process wasn't even documented. Been slowly turning the ship around and so automation is the next step. In reality though it isn't too painful - once you're logg...

Re: Send Revision Number to ERP for Revision numbering on Orders
Updating the revision in ERP is just part of our drawing release process so ERP is already in sync with the drawings. Manual and tedious (for now, I'm hopefully bullying through that upgrade some time this year) but means the right stuff gets ordered.

Would that also work for an item like, teflon tape, grease or locktite that is on the bom but does not have geometry? Yes, I do this all the time. Each of the consumables like grease just have an empty part model that gets dropped in to the assembly tree, and then you can pick that origin for ballo...

Which is frankly insane that they didn't at least raise prices to account for any kind of inflation on a year to year basis. As for my original query, I've had some luck with the ScanTo3D Mesh Prep Wizard now which has done some sort of magic to remove the error from the tree so I might be able to cobble along for now.
