I don't delete the <DIM> and replace it. I check the "Override value:" option and enter the desired text there. image.png My apologies, I assumed that is what you meant by "replacing the value with text", I didn't know you could write text in the "override value" case.

It's a good option to have for people working with multiple users creating drawings, there have been times where I wish I could distinct it visually because someone cheated their dimension rather then fixing things to get it right.

I don't think it will add an additional layer of stress/issues. I see it as an addition to what was existing. If you wanted backwards compatibility, then it's somewhat possible now. I think DSS has adopted the "agile" model but has kept the old naming. For the last couple of releases, SP5 has bugs that didn't exist in SP4. That's not how it is supposed to work. I believe they tweaked something in how BOM's work in 2023 but I don't remember exactly what. I'm guessing ...
