It seem that EAA no longer offer SOLIDWORKS Edu Premium...
They had now change to 3DExperience Maker which require user to fork out another $50/yr....
Your thoughts on this?
To me it seem like it just the same stuff where DS is forcing 3DExperience on everyone

Far too many items in the world are designed, constructed and foisted upon us with no understanding-or even care-for how we will use them.
Re: EAA SOLIDWORKS Licensing
The way DS is messy I think they will forget the link to https://www.solidworks.com/support/comm ... ad#no-back
But probably we won't have a 2022 SW Student available :/

Re: EAA SOLIDWORKS Licensing
I think it stinks that they forced it to be the platform only, would be nice to keep the desktop version as an option. In the email I received it was noted, "This change was not initiated by EAA."
It's clear DSS is just doing whatever they want with no care for the customers. Based on the performance they've shown I wouldn't even trust them with my own personal CAD models.

Re: EAA SOLIDWORKS Licensing
They are pushing a new product. It is in their best interest to move in that direction. It is hard to complain that the heavily discounted product you want isn't the one they are offering anymore.

Re: EAA SOLIDWORKS Licensing
It's hardly another $50/yr though is it? Previously it was about $40 or something for the Student Version which you had to renew every year anyway. So not a deal breaking price hike.Zhen-Wei Tee wrote: ↑Wed Aug 18, 2021 7:57 pm It seem that EAA no longer offer SOLIDWORKS Edu Premium...

It is $40 for their membership + another $50 for the subscription to 3DExperience softwaredave.laban wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 11:54 am It's hardly another $50/yr though is it? Re: EAA SOLIDWORKS Licensing
Ah! Had misunderstood that. Yeah that's not so great.
Re: EAA SOLIDWORKS Licensing
This isn't the "Give me a cheap version of solidworks" program. It is there to give an added bonus to EAA members. The fact that it has been abused in the past may be why they changed the program.
