Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
Absolutely. I'm hoping it will be a hotfix ... I really hope we don't have to wait for the next service pack.
Better yet ... I hope there is an easy work around, or some silly setting that is affecting it.

Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
I have not experienced this behaviour in:
Google Chrome, FreeCAD, LibreCad, Microsoft Office, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, all of these programs show additional info when hoovering over the menu or commands. SolidWorks as an example, only shows part of the text.
SolidWorks uses scaling of display different in many objects. Scaling of text is used in another way on other objects.
So sometimes you will see huge row height with very small text, other object shows small row height not able to show the text.
This inconsistency makes it very hard to find settings with smaller 4K monitors (about 28" in my case). Don't want to hide behind a 48".

See screenshots i posted about 20 posts ago
http://cadforum.net/viewtopic.php?p=18924#p18924
mirroring looks good in the preview, but result does not work
I did a side by side comparison with Solidworks 2021 SP5.1 on one screen and Solidworks 2022 SP1 on the other screen
both had the same assembly open .. and i went thru the same steps we use everyday.
at each step i checked the settings on both screens to ensure they were the same
Solidworks 2021 SP5.1 works
Solidworks 2022 SP1 does not

I just had another Meeting with our VAR and he confirms the issue.
We recorded with Solidworks RX for further analysis.

Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
You guys have convinced me to upgrade to 2022 as time permits. I'm not terribly concerned about the minor bug here or there. (If I hit on one that affects something I do daily that might change.) What I am trying to avoid at all costs is what happened with 2019. My productivity dropped to about 25% of what it was in 2018. I can't go through that again. ("Solidworks is Busy") I still haven't turned autosave back on.

It seems that it's my lucky day.
How many times I try, I don't see the problem explained in mirror. Tested on different parts/assemblies.
Maybe my assemblies are not complicated enough. (only 152 components and all sheet metals)

Other than mirror in assemblies, what else is borken? The ONLY mirror feature that works consistently for me is mirror bodies. (This thread explains it. https://r1132100503382-eu1-3dswym.3dexp ... ulbWI0soPQ) I rarely use mirror in assemblies for similar reasons.Bradfordzzz wrote: ↑Fri Apr 01, 2022 3:57 am As much as I don't like 2021 ... I'm resigned to the russian roulette of minor bugs that come with SP from SW. It's the game changers I fear. SP1 is the latest, but SP2 is due in April on the projected release schedule.

Haven't really been able to test a lot of features in 2022 because the Mirroring function is a show stopper for us.
Working in automotive ... it seems like the vehicles happen to have both a right side .. and a left side to them . lol
Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
I typically create configurations in the sub assembly for left and right side. Most of the time none of the mirror options give me the positioning I am looking for. That's a really great catch. I didn't realize this change. I'm still hoping for a quick fix, like I have a check box somewhere turned on that is messing everything up. I really don't want to wait for a service pack for this. Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
Appreciate all of the good feedback so far from everyone. Hopefully someone can answer a few questions that I have.
Drawings - weld symbols.
For years, whenever you added a root gap and angular value to a symbol when the "2nd fillet" option was selected, the text justification was always centered which meant pushing the text to the right by way of several spacebar presses. This justification issue was apparently fixed in 2022.
SR# -- 1-2923981193
SPR# -- Description
-----------------------
143098 - Drawings - Annotations: Groove angle and root opening are not positioned inside bevel weld symbol with presence of 2nd fillet
Can someone:
A: confirm that it's fixed and the justification is correct on a new "fresh" symbol in 2022.
B: save a symbol on a drawing in a version of 2021 or before with the spacebar justification workaround, which you then open in 2022. I want to see if all of the default library drawings I've made over the years with weld symbols will need the "spaces" removed from them when I upgrade.
Secondly,
Can someone confirm that this SPR was fixed:
SR# -- 1-23626682349
SPR# -- Description
-----------------------
1194201 - Assemblies - External References, Virtual Components: Virtual Component external references status becomes out of context after parent assembly is renamed
You should be able to tell by seeing if this "search" box is present when you go to an assembly, RMB, and select "Rename".
In 2019 SP.5, when you wanted to rename an assembly, you had the option to check “include virtual components” and then hit “search” . It would then populate the virtual component references in the assembly and make sure they were redirected to the new name ensuring no broken references. This was missing in 2020 - hence the requested SPR.
Thanks!!

A. Here's what I got when I duplicated your weld symbol with SW2022 sp 0.0. I've never used the "2nd fillet" option, but I'm guessing this isn't what it's supposed to look like.TRKemp wrote: ↑Mon Apr 04, 2022 8:16 am Appreciate all of the good feedback so far from everyone. B. I didn't try anything new with virtual Parts, but I've had problems with Pack and Go in SW2022 that I never had before. When using Pack and Go, if components are re-named as part of the process the new Assembly references the original files instead of the re-named ones.

Hi Glenn,
I'm unable to see the example you pasted in or attached. Can you give it another try and I'll confirm if the appearance is correct.
That's also unfortunate news about Pack and go. We've just recently backported a .dll file from an SPR fix that was made in 2021 into our 2020 software to fix an unrelated issue with that feature. Re-assigning references is precisely what the pack and go function is for, so overall, that's pretty concerning.

I have not experienced the Mirror bug mentioned here. (I've never liked or trusted mirror in assemblies.!! I only use it for things that are not mission critical. ie, visual references only. Any serious or important sheetmetal or weldment info is mirrored within the multi-body part. )
And I truly have had a more stable and productive experience with my 2022 version install. Crashing almost never happens and I literally cannot recall the last time it did crash. I have moved all my projects that were in 2021 over to 2022 and uninstalled 2021. I see no reason to keep it.

I like some of these new features, just need a couple of fixes to these issues and we will be all set i think.Damo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 12:06 am I am genuinely sorry to hear this. TBH, I'm actually glad I made the move to 2022.

Would you mind confirming if you have any issues with Pack and Go, as Glenn described?Damo wrote: ↑Wed Apr 06, 2022 12:06 am I am genuinely sorry to hear this. TBH, I'm actually glad I made the move to 2022.

Also, not sure if you'd be willing to check out my post where I posed a few questions. Would be great to have additional feedback from multiple users on some of these issues.

Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
Our VAR had informed us that the Mirroring has been addressed and resolved in SP2.
Now we just need to wait for that to get released.
Hoping its sometimes soon !

Have they separated sheetmetal bend lines from sketch entities in flat patterns?
We hate the workaround of having to show sketches, pick the sketches and sketch lines over the bend lines, and then turn sketches off again.

The bend lines are still a sketch under the flat. In the drawing you show them via the view properties now.IndianaDave wrote: ↑Fri Apr 08, 2022 9:51 am Have they separated sheetmetal bend lines from sketch entities in flat patterns?

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm installing it now. I'm anxious to find out how they fixed the temporary axis fiasco.

I ran Installation manager, and also checked the downloads in my portal. Still nothing.
Does it take a while to roll out to everyone?
Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
Still not there for me either.

Odd...I didn't know they did controlled rollouts to groups of users, I updated yesterday.

Re: How is everyone liking Solidworks 2022 SP1?
It appears that they built a delay into it. That's not what I wanted, but like my wife tells me, it's not all about me. It's a definite improvement.Glenn Schroeder wrote: ↑Tue Apr 12, 2022 8:41 am Thanks for the heads-up. I'm installing it now. I'm anxious to find out how they fixed the temporary axis fiasco.

Our VAR confirmed that they don't have access to SP2 either.
