Somehow, somewhere, I toggled a setting so that when importing a dwg, Swx wants me to pick a drawing template before opening the DXF/DWG import dialog box. Hitting the cancel button takes me to the import dialog where I can select the kind of import I want.
Anyone have the foggiest notion what setting I toggled? I want it to go directly to the DXF/DWG import dialog.
I've recently completely reinstalled SolidWorks if that makes any difference.
Thanks

Re: Dumb question
Methinks this a version thing. I've got v2021 at work, and don't have the selection Alex highlights. But, some time in the past perhaps I set that option and it's still hanging a around.
As I recently did a scorched earth reinstall of SWx, that might explain it.
My work system is not configured to use a fixed template.
Sigh.
Thanks

Those options have been in the software a long time. Possible that your CAD admin has an image setup and using the admin image to control which options you can change.

If you have nothing in these boxes, then you will always get that message...no matter what. You absolutely HAVE to use a template when you create something. Even if it is the Solidworks default templates.

Re: Dumb question
So, as it turns out, I skewered myself....
Who knew?
When I did my scorched earth reinstall, I got lazy and restored an old settings file rather than reset all the folder references.
I cleaned out the registry for and restarted, and Poof! Everything works.
Took me about 10 minutes to reset all the folder locations.
Thanks for the assistance.
