Step file saved from Fusion360

Unread post by Glenn Schroeder »

I can't open it. I get the error below when I try (I erased part of it, which included the client and product name, but it was just the rest of the file path for the folder where I saved it). The file name has v9 in it, if that helps.

He said he doesn't have an option to save as parasolid. Is that correct? Or does anyone have any ideas?

As you might have guessed, it's proprietary, so I can't share the file.

You could have him try iges. I've had times where one worked better than the other.

To correct the error, try the following

Deactivate “3D interconnect” in SOLIDWORKS Options > System Options > Import.
Open the STEP file using a text editor such as Notepad. The file will open as text.
Use Search/Find, and search for: PRESENTATION_STYLE_ASSIGNMENT.
If this problematic data is found, replace it using the Search/Find & Replace command with: PRES.

FILE_SCHEMA (('AUTOMOTIVE_DESIGN { 1 0 10303 214 3 1 1 }'));
Post the "FILE_SCHEMA" line. It show STEP version.
The one I posted above is 214 rev 10303.
FILE_SCHEMA (('CONFIG_CONTROL_DESIGN'));
This is 203.

He said he didn't see an option to save it as AP203.

He saved it as iges and sent that. The hardware came in with errors, but it was easy enough to delete those few parts and use mine, so I'm good to go. Thanks.

Thankfully I only have to deal with other people's files about once every five years.

Why not ACIS? Their kernel (Shape manager) is a fork of ACIS (version 7?) and a precise brep modeler like Parasolid.
