Custom Thread
Good morning,
GM uses a custom bolt.
M4.2 x 1.41
Would anyone happen to have a CAD file with this thread actually modeled?
the CAD we get from GM doesnt show the thread.
We need to CNC cut this thread.
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Custom Thread
Geez, talk about creating something custom to force customers to have to go through them to fix their stuff.
Re: Custom Thread
Machinery's Handbook lists this thread under 'Metric Self-Threading Screws'. The data is taken from ANSI/ASME B18.6.5M

Yes .. there is a self tapping screw version of this as well.JSculley wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 8:14 am Machinery's Handbook lists this thread under 'Metric Self-Threading Screws'. The data is taken from ANSI/ASME B18.6.5M
the bolts are similar, but they aren't tapered like the screw, and they don't have the cutting tip on the end.

You sure you need to CNC cut it?
How many are you making?

Re: Custom Thread
Yeah I saw some weird stuff too when googling. Just shows what companies are willing to do to ensure that you don't go to the small shop in your town to get things fixed.Frederick_Law wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 8:57 am https://www.amazon.com/OAUTOO-25PCS-Met ... pons&psc=1

Re: Custom Thread
Needs to be CNC'd on the end of a pin, and the threads need to be longer.Frederick_Law wrote: ↑Thu Aug 11, 2022 8:53 am https://www.amazon.ca/M4-2-1-41-20mm-He ... B0040CYX34
