How to add custom scale to Sheet scale list?

Unread post by Tera »

Is there any way to add a custom scale (1:3) to this list?

Might be this you're looking for:

Modifying the List of Available Scales
You can control which scales appear in the list that you access from the status bar and Drawing View PropertyManager. The same list is used for both drawing sheets and drawing views.

The list is defined in a file named drawingscales.txt, which you can edit to add and remove scales. The file contains instructions for editing the list.

The default file location is:

install_dir\SOLIDWORKS\lang\language.

To specify a different location for the file:

Click Tools > Options > File Locations.
Under Show folders for, select Drawing Scale Standards.
Set the file location and click OK.

So, you added scale "1 : 3" to the list of JIS drafting standard that is in use as your "Overall drafting standard" in your documents.
Might be needed to re-start, re-create drawing and sheet templates?

I've already restarted SW. Even rebooted the PC.
I'll check what happens if I use Solidworks' default templates as soon as I'm back at my desk.

Thank you.

Well, I just tested it on Solidworks default templates.
It shows the custom scale in the list.

But if I use my own templates, the custom scale doesn't show.

Does it mean I have to rebuild my templates?

Open your template, and see if it shows. If it does, save the template and then create a new file and see if it shows when in the file.

IMO, it will show in new files but not existing ones

Might need to replace the sheet template or overall drafting standard in existing drawings.

Well it's strange, but the problem is solved.

I opened one of my templates, and saved its drafting standard.
Then opened a new drawing from Solidworks default templates. In option - Document Properties loaded the drafting standard I had saved and saved the result as a template.

Thanks for all the advices.
