Hide All Sketches Macro

Unread post by Bryan O »

I've been using more and more references sketches and forming relationships from 1 sketch to another but I like a clean graphics area/feature tree.
I know I can turn sketch visibility OFF for the entire part (see image) but I would rather have that ON and just turn ON the visibility of the sketches that I'm using/forming relationships to.
Does anyone have a "Hide All Sketches" macro that will run through my part and turn sketch visibly OFF on the feature sketch and allow me to keep visibility the part sketch visibility ON.

I have something that hides all referenced geometry that someone provided to me a little while ago. if I recall, it was @dpihlaja

Sketches, planes, insert points, etc..

Would that do the trick?

If you're not using it, then it shouldn't concern you that it's hiding it, or maybe I'm missing something.

Either way, I'll post it here, maybe someone who knows a bit more about macros can take it and modify it for your needs

Good stuff mate, simple things like this can often be found on the internet, glad you were able to!

BTW. Mine works on assembly levels, so it saves having to run it on each file.

Or if you want to just hide the sketches only, you could just assign a keyboard shortcut to do that:

@AlexLachance You might consider dropping that in the Upload/Download area for macros...

I know this isn't really what you're asking for, but I use the Display Pane (F8) to be able to turn on/off individual sketches (an other stuff) quickly. You'd have to click each one individually to turn off a lot of them. In big parts with lots of features, I definitely control the sketches individually, not en masse.

What he is looking for is to be able to hide all the individual sketches at the part levels quickly without having to go through the tree.

Sometimes some of my Skeletons sketches show up from multiple parts and I don't feel like going through and finding which of them do, so running the macro hides(like using the eye on a sketch) all of them and then I just reactivate the desired one from the Skeleton Part rather then from the model parts.

It was provided to me on the forums, you sure I can upload it there..?

That's I use the moast. I run in main assembly and it hides all checked entities in subassemblies and components.

I don't think that it was me. But thanks for the mention! :)

It appears that if sketches are hidden at the top level the software still processes them. If each individual sketch is hidden the software ignores them, and performance improves.

Indeed, which is the reason for turning them off rather then turning off sketch visibility! It also ensures that you are 'mating' to the right skeleton and a few other little things.
