Solid Edge icons and NX icons are similar now. This would make it easy to adapt when moving from one to the other.

SolidWorks did the same with Catia a few versions back. Some of us complained about the monochromatic blue scheme that was enforced on us and got the old green/yellow color themes added back.

Not only alignment with NX and the rest of the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio, but there are some UI goodies in there for those migrating over to SE from competing product too. Plentiful context toolbars and object - action workflows have been added (like select a sketch/region, and then Extrude it vs. Select Extrude, then select or draw a sketch).
