Does anyone know of a tool/Third-Party Software/add-in which we could buy in order to bulk update variables in PDM?
We have a lot of legacy parts which we would like to enrich with data.
I have created a dispatch, but that is not a suitable solution for 100.000+ files.

Couple of options depending on what you need. The Import @JSculley mentioned is best if you have a lot of different variable for each part.
Tim from EquivaQ has a nice video and free tool to create the XML:
If you want to apply the same variable value to a lot of files, there are two options:
1. If all of the files are in teh same folder, then add the variable to a folder, then use "Update Values in Files"
2. If they are spread around your vault, you can create a workflow transition to set the variable to the value you want. Then transition the files and have it automatically transition them back. I created a separate workflow for this so I could call for from any other workflow.

If it is PDM Pro, you can use the built in Import/Export Rule functionality. See the Chapter named 'Importing and Exporting Data' in the Administration Guide (accessible from the PDM Administration tool).

Thank you @jcapriotti and @JSculley !
I used the import from XML. This works perfectly, and was easy to do with the video.
This is going to save me endless hours and frustrations. And for free
I really appreciates the help!

Just curious, did you use the free tool to create the xml from an Excel file?
