K-Factor in practice (sheet metal behavior)

Unread post by kacper.suchomski »

What is K-Factor?
What does it affect?

K-Factor is the coefficient of the position of the neutral surface (of constant length) of the material during linear deformation machining.
It is used for bending and rolling.

In many cases, the analysis and correct application of this parameter can be omitted - in the case of thin sheets, the error incurred in the process will usually fit within the product manufacturing tolerance.

However, ignoring this issue can cause a lot of trouble when producing larger parts.
Incorrect selection of K-Factor in the process of modeling large-sized parts from thick material can cause a difference of several or even several dozen centimeters between the expected (nominal) size and the size obtained in the production process.

This inconspicuous parameter can expose the company to huge losses of time, material and money.

@kacper.suchomski Since many of the users here only speak English, it may be useful to record your videos with your system settings in English so the commands and tree in Inventor are in English. Most people here don't speak Polish. I think you'll get more views.
