Fillet or Chamfer

Unread post by Maha Nadarasa »

Drawing shows it is a fillet but dimension says it is a chamfer. How do you see this?

Interesting that the decimal separator is shown differently in the various dimensions.

Nevertheless, that chamfer dimensionis not pointing to the visible rounded surface, but to the corner between the 41.8 diameter and the 34 outer face. The actual chamfer is too small to be resolved at that scale.

The callout is clearly for a chamfer. The fillet may be called out elsewhere on the drawing. The chamfer, like @josh said is on the edge of the hole/bore.

The dimension overrules whatever the picture shows. In solidworks, the fillet and chamfer are under one button, maybe they got confused.

Also, it's typical to break the edge there after boring the core. A chamfer there would be easy to machine, a fillet not so much.

Y'all are right on it being a chamfer on the bore. I'm surprised @Maha Nadarasa didn't have a more clear drawing to work from. If that image was enlarged and less blurry, it'd be easier to see that the leader goes to the bore and not that radius.
