Real world model/imaginary work

Unread post by Maha Nadarasa »

This was done in SWX. Is this a real world model or showing SolidWorks capability of making imaginary works?

Technically, if you can model in SW or other CAD, it can be made.

How much are you willing to bet?? **

Note that the material is titanium and all tolerances are +/- 0.0005"..............so no printing.

It can be made, 3D print.
Unless you change material to diamond.

Still the model can be made.
Never said same size or fit.

It seems art more than a design.

I was once asked to quote someone on making this model. I really wanted to do it, but this guy had never worked with an engineer on a shape like this, and he wasn't able to really articulate his goals with it. I wanted to do the model mainly for the challenge, but because he wasn't sure what he wanted, I thought the risk of not being able to please him was too high to take the project, so I declined. I couldn't get additional views or cross sections, all I had was this image and maybe a height dimension.

I like doing kind of abstract stuff, but I need to make sure that my ideas line up with the person paying for the work.
