File name issue while saving solid bodies

Unread post by christian chu »

Not happened all the time, I got this mesg (see att. image) once a while while saving solid bodies to external files (no matter what name I tried) - "Shutdown and reopen SW" would solve the issue. Not sure why it happens
Is it the SW issue or I'm doing something wrong
Thanks

Looks like it cannot use the body name as filename.
Got () [] {} in the name? Or other @#$%*&?

This is SW issue i believe.
Sometimes it happens to me (randomly) and after SW restart it fixes it self :D

You need to quit swearing when typing in file names.

"@#$%?[\!"

Windows transliterates......and we have a problem. No, no, you can't hide your bad habits from us. :D

I've seen this issue also (and regularly) and agree with @christian chu that I need to close shutdown and restart SW to rid the problem. SW must be cache the filename somewhere and not clear until the program restarts...

If I remember correctly, if you run in administration mode it won't happen. I don't use the feature for other reasons now but I'm pretty sure that was a fix so it didn't happen.

I always run SW as Administration

Actually run the program as administrator or have administration privileges?
Every time when you launch solidworks a pop-up will come up and will ask you do you want to make changes to the program.

Right click on icon
Properties
Compatibility
Run program as administrator

If a restart fixes the issue, then SW's memory most likely saturated.

OK looked up some old threads on this problem and the answer is as I said previous.

You need to run the program in administror mode not just have administration privalages or be a administrator,

Right click on icon
Properties
Compatibility
Run program as administrator

What's really sad there are threads going back past 2012 and still not fixed.
