Is military service obligatory in Turkey? Just noticed your picture too, beautiful family there!Ömür Tokman wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 10:46 am Roasted By John
I did my military service for 18 months, lunch and dinner were turkey. I never ate a turkey after my military service.

To be honest, it does look pretty darn good on that picture you posted.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 2:37 pm This is American Turkey, not Turkey Turkey, big difference
I'll agree that barbecued turkey is better than baked, but turkey fried deep-fried in peanut oil is better.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 3:28 pm My wife bakes a pretty good turkey with stuffing and all, but really, it's hard to beat the turkey that comes off of a rotisserie. The skin is tough, which protects and stops the moisture from releasing from the turkey, let me tell you it is better then any turkey I tasted, plus with the Rub on the outside, unreal.
Great talking to you the other eveningGlenn Schroeder wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:02 pm I'll agree that barbecued turkey is better than baked, but turkey fried deep-fried in peanut oil is better.
That statement made my mouth watery, it's the type of thing you'd hear in a commercialRoasted By John wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:10 pm Great talking to you the other evening
I respectfully disagree to the point where we need a cook off, there is no way that you can make a better turkey using ground grubbers and their oil, compared to a good but mild Dry Rub marinated/permeated through the meat, and allowing that said Turkey to get mounted on a spit, put in the cooker and right below have some nice hot charcoal coals and also wood pellets for the smoky flavor, this said Turkey releases it oil from it's own skin and constantly bastes it's own meat. (Just like the Dove Soap "I love my own skin" commercials)
You're trying to tell me that you extract oil from ground grubbers and use that...
Cheers @Glenn Schroeder
I'm with you Alex, all this chat about roasting / barbequing has got my stomach rumbling. I feel like chicken tonight. (any fowl will do)AlexLachance wrote: ↑Tue May 04, 2021 4:13 pm That statement made my mouth watery, it's the type of thing you'd hear in a commercial

You got your head turned the wrong way on that Idea, the pigs inside the turkey is only to keep the turkey from excessive moving, which will knock most of the meat off as it's getting ready.mike miller wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 7:51 am That pig needs to learn appropriate behavior....sniffing.....yuck.
Man that looks amazing! I've always wanted to go whole hog, but tackling an entire piglet is intimidating to say the least. Maybe you can try stuffing the turkey into the pig, or better yet a turducken in there. Nah, it'll probably take forever to get to the right internal temperature, and too much of a good thing can be bad.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 6:25 am Now that's Foul

And put make up on the pig so it looks smoked?
I figured that I would brush on Liquid Smoke if nothing else worked, but came out ok

My wife tells me that we should cut down on our meat intake and eat more fish. I tell her, 'when I can fish for cows and pigs we will do just that'.
John, when and if I make it down there, I'll be sure to pay you a visit. Our company's head office can't be that far away in Lancaster.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 11:49 am 85 to 90% of our customers are first time Roasters, so we make it easy for ya
Roasting entire pieces like these is definetly not easy and it takes a lot more time then most think. I live in one of the more "rednecks" part of Quebec and it's something we generally do each year on both sides of the family.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 11:49 am 85 to 90% of our customers are first time Roasters, so we make it easy for ya

This is very similar to what we use in general:

Yeah, most of the rentable ones are very similar to this and we don't use enough to buy one, so we stick with the rentable ones.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 8:31 am That thing is huge, but has a lot of bells and whistles

Like @AlexLachance says, I set up my chair so my arms are flat or slightly above the surface. Plus, I got a desk with a curved edge so that I don't get a sharp edge in my arm. Plus, I use a trackball, so my right hand stays mostly stationary and doesn't have to keep repositioning, especially the wrist.Ömür Tokman wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 8:53 am irrelevant to matters, but I'm curious.

2 of the guys I work with were suffering from tendonitis and switching to this mouse has solved their pains. I personally don't like it but if I were to have the same issue I would most likely adapt.Ömür Tokman wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 9:19 am Frankly I thought but I don't know if I can get used to it.
If I request it from the company and cannot use it, it would not be nice, I would spend unnecessary costs. I looked around for someone using this mouse to try it, but there isn't.
frankly i'm wondering, is it useful?
I did a Hawaiian Style pig roast for a few years. Dug a pit in the field, lined the bottom with a bunch of granite rocks 4-8in in Dia. Placed probably 1/4-1/2 face cord over the rocks and set it on fire. I then wrapped the piggy up in a combination of wet cheese cloth and an outer layer of a few layers of commercial aluminum foil.SamSpade wrote: ↑Wed May 05, 2021 11:09 am Man that looks amazing! My desk is L-shaped. I face the left half, and my entire forearm rests on the right half. Mouse is (at the center) where the two meet. It is comfortable to me, but I admit that my mouse hand rests a foot (~30cm) from my keyboard.Ömür Tokman wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 8:53 am irrelevant to matters, but I'm curious.

For a few days I had been looking for a method similar to @Frederick 's for my elbows. I don't want to raise the chair because then I'm sitting hunched over (back pain). Yes I will take the risk for my wrists and ask for this mouse.AlexLachance wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 9:25 am 2 of the guys I work with were suffering from tendonitis and switching to this mouse has solved their pains. To avoid long-term injuries, your shoulder has to be "loose", not "pushing upwards", and your elbow needs to do a nice 90degree. If you have to lift the elbow, your mouse sensitivity is not high enough. At least, that is my opinion.
You're tall, aren't you Omur? I'm 5'6"(168cm) so I don't face this issue hahaÖmür Tokman wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 9:37 am For a few days I had been looking for a method similar to @Frederick 's for my elbows. @matt I don't think my boss will get a 3d mouse or trackball. these devices are quite expensive in Turkey.
That does sound like a lot of work, but the trick is long and slow, best in lovin and cookinMJuric wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 9:29 am I did a Hawaiian Style pig roast for a few years. I then wrapped the piggy up in a combination of wet cheese cloth and an outer layer of a few layers of commercial aluminum foil.
After the wood burnt down to nice glowing embers I dropped the pig in and burried the entire thing in dirt around 4-6PM. Noon to one the next day I dug it up. I buried it with 4-6 steel loops around the piggy. Threw a pole thru the hoops and pulled the piggy out. Unwrap, eat.
Worked very well except the one year we had a torrential downpour. Bottom side of the piggy was cooked....top side, not so much. Had to break out the grill.
If I were to do it again I would probably try to find a big piece of semi flexible sheet metal and place that over the wrapped piggy after putting a small layer of dirt over it and then burry it deeper. Biggest pain was getting the dirt off without stabbing the pig. I figure surround the pig with dirt, enough to absorb the direct heat, cover and bury to keep the heat in. You can then aggressively dig it out to the sheet metal, pull the sheet metal out and probably pull the pig out.
Alot of work but kinda fun.

From my understanding, either the chair is not made for you, or your desk could be a little higher for you.
My Wife's a vegan. I'd pull the pig out, cut enough up, well pull apart enough, for people to eat and then go take a shower. Every year when I came back down to eat, the pigs head was covered with a towel.Roasted By John wrote: ↑Thu May 06, 2021 10:03 am That does sound like a lot of work, but the trick is long and slow, best in lovin and cookin

Easy to rent one from HomeDepot if they let me know I'll be going home before I go to work
