If they can deliver that resolution for that price, I'm intrigued.

Yeah, that's the reason I posted it. It may be worth the gamble to get it at the kickstarter price. I definitely wouldn't plan on using it for work or anything like that, but if you have that amount of cash for hobby things, seems like it could be a good gamble.

A friend of mine signed up for this and it has turned into a mess. It got booted from kickstarter due to IP claims. I think Creality is now trying to sell them directly, but I don't think they are available yet.

Tell him I'm sorry for suggesting it.
Did he get his money back?

I can imagine the scan companies selling overpriced devices sending out the kibosh dogs (lawyers) with nasty ip notices.
The on which I keep seeing lately is "Revopoint".

A coworker bought one, he lent it to me so I could run some tests. Here are the best results I got - mesh diagnosis from Materialise Magics:

- Just a few Intersecting/Overlapping Triangles (These are minor issues for STL files, usually you don't need to bother fixing them).

- Black, glossy/reflective surfaces creates pretty bad scans, so you will need a scanning spray. (I didn't use spray on those scans)

I would say it is not good for Reverse Engineering, but if you want to scan some toys and fix the mesh manually with sculpting software (zBrush, Blender, 3DS Max, Maya) it's pretty decent.

Btw, there is a copyright issue with the software code:

The software automatically position the scans and also do an automatic Warp, the mesh quality is pretty good. I would say that it is a very advanced piece of software for a cheap product that is new on the market. (Looks like they copied the code - Just a note, I am not a specialist to make the proper judgment)

When kickstarter kicked them off, Creality thought that they could keep the money and fulfill the orders, but KS refunded the money automatically. My friend then purchased it directly from Creality. They were supposed to ship in May, and so far he hasn't heard anything from them. Maybe it is stuck on a boat somewhere.

His scanner arrived today. I will provide an update once I have a chance to play with it.
