If I convert a .STP file to a .SLDPRT file, oftentimes, cylindrical features will have a split line.
I've attached an example.
Click on the dome. It will become apparent.
How are these split lines eliminated?
Thanks for any help.
ETA: I'm not sure if "split line" is the proper terminology.
Why do converted .stp files often have split lines in them?

Can't open the attached SW file in the first post (future version), but I normally get rid of the split lines by using the Delete Face tool and let the software patch it up to one surface.

I believe it depends on how the STP file was exported. SolidWorks has export options for STP files to do this. The terminology is "Split periodic faces". A full understanding (beyond what the help file here states) prolly requires a lotta math.

A little trick if the surfaces were analytical... save as IGES, and open (or import), if you have stitching on, it will resolve/heal without the split.
(just tested, it heals most but not all, like the fillets)

The Delete Face tool worked beautifully.dave.laban wrote: ↑Thu Jul 14, 2022 10:05 am Can't open the attached SW file in the first post (future version), but I normally get rid of the split lines by using the Delete Face tool and let the software patch it up to one surface.
