How to change the Card Template variable driven by the Template Variable?

Unread post by RMcHugh »

Hello, all,

New to the admin position, messed up the other week.
Affected my counterparts' side of things and they had to restore some templates, cards, and variables from backup.

Now, mine is not behaving the same as before I touched it in the first place and I have no backups to restore.
Specifically, the Description column is not populated in the Vault/Explorer view for new parts.
All the old parts are displayed properly.

I believe I need to change the Card Variable that is driven by a Template Variable.
Template Variable 't_partname' is driving Card Variable 'Part name'.
'Part name' is not on the Card at all.

I think 't_partname' should be driving the Card Variable 'partname', which does exist on the card.
I cannot find a way to edit the template and change 'Part name' to 'partname'.

Is it possible to change that variable?
Do I have to recreate that template?

Thanks for looking,

Ray

Yes, it's possible to change that variable.

Does the small drop down arrow to the left of 'Part name' open a list of your PDM variables? It should allow you to select from a list of current PDM Variables to use 't_partname' to set the value of the selected Card Variable in the right column.

Now I feel silly.
All day, I had double clicked the card variable and nothing happened.
Just highlighted the entire row.
It didn't dawn on me to click on the arrow proper.

Thank you, Alex.
