I am documenting this for my future self.
I was having problems creating a 3DPDF of one of my assemblies. I do this regularly, but today it refused to cooperate. The solution was to run SW with elevated privileges, aka run as administrator.

Interesting. I've had a couple of times when the 3DPDF thing would spit at me. Perhaps this is why.
For those of us that live in protected enclaves though, this is a real challenge.
I've tried for years to get our "friends" at Dassault to come to the realization that most users don't have admin privileges.
So stop insisting on putting stuff that is user configurable in the Program Folder fer crying out loud (I'm looking at you material database...)
