Hi All,
I need a bit of help modelling the attached gear tooth. I've got it sketched and tried to sweep it - for about the last 6 hours. Its either throwing an error for self-intersecting geometry, invalid geometry or simply just crashing Solidworks.
I cant make any changes to any dimensions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Re: Worm Gear Help
The pitch is assumed to be double the 4.7125 dimension?
And the profile is assumed to be symmetrical about the right end of the 4.7125 dimension?

Re: Worm Gear Help
Your drawing shows that the geometry intersects itself (Blue region). The Worm pitch is 2X4.7125 and the profile is 2x6. Cut the profile symmetrically to the pitch, or model the shaft and the part that is above the diameter of the shaft separately.

Re: Worm Gear Help
You are going to have zero thickness geometry for something like this.
Especially the area that the gear revolves around. This would be completely impossible to manufacture in any way (as far as I know) without modification of it.
Or there just is not enough information.
If someone is challenging you to model it, then I would suggest going to them and asking them how they would do it (and showing you), because it is impossible as far as I can tell. (spending 10 minutes looking at it, that is)
