Internal Id & Persistent Reference Ids in Solidworks

Unread post by GTR84 »

Does Solidworks have internal id's? Is this what is meant by persistent reference id's?

The reason I ask is that I have come from using Revit which has a GUID (Globally Unique Id) for every object that is modelled. We use this id to import data into other softwares (via excel) to drive tracking and visualization animations etc.

Is there a way to access the equivalent id in each solidworks model? And to be able to export this id as a column in the BOM to excel?

Thank you

Good luck. Solidworks can't keep track of them itself.

I think you can add to the properties part. These, in turn, can be inserted into a BIM table, which can be imported into EXCEL.
Maybe this will be enough for you?
