I am not entirely sure if i'm not delulu from a Mandela Effect here.
But, I have a rather large model I am working on and after discussion with our fabrication team the plan was put forth to restructure the assembly ever so slightly to better plan out drawings and fabrication process.
Simply put, I created a few new instances of "Form New Subassembly Here".
Purely to lump a few components residing loosely in a larger assembly into a couple of smaller assemblies to pre-fabricate prior to the larger assembly.
All very straightforward and a long standing capabilty.
My issue is all the broken mates and sketch references that ensued.
I mean, none of the components have changed. None of the parts have actually moved. No faces, edges, etc, were altered.
But suddenly every mate and sketch entity attached to any of the restructured components are now dangling and no longer parametric.
We are talking literaly dozens of each.
All I did was reconfigure the assembly structure. I have not altered or moved any components within the model at all.
Am I losing my mind trawling thru the model reattaching mates and sketch entities to the exact same items that are right there exactly where they are meant to be.
Yes, Too bloody right I am..
Am I incorrect to recall that this was not previously an issue..?

Did you try CTRL Q? Sometimes that reconnects things.
