Not sure if I should be posting this question in this sub-group, but here goes. I'm using SW-2024, the bottom rung basic version. I have never used Simulation Xpress, but have always been curious as to its capabilities & limitations. I now have an example project I could use some insight on. Its actually representative of similar parts I have always wondered about.
This is a 'built-up' model engine crankshaft, as opposed to one turned from solid. Not my design, but the assembly principle has been proven out on several engines. What I'm wondering: if I specifying a clamping force acting through the bolt hole, can I obtain some useful information about how much stress is acting on the center shaft (indicative of grip). And would it show me stress gradations on the web element like these cool pictures I see on the internet (indicative of % of maximum material strength)?
I think I stumbled on some Xpress learning resources some time ago, but didn't really have an application. And I wasn't quite sure how robust Xpress was capability wise vs. whatever the industrial strength module is called packaged with $$ Premium SW. Thanks for any input.
