Our whole family went to the theatre when it came out as well. I was only eight but I still remember how excited the crowd was at the theatre.
What's even more impressive is how it has become a generational experience. My kids got me tickets to opening nights of most of the last ones since they came out around my birthday. My son has watched the entire series a couple times.

These are drinking game rules for my favorite episode, Episode V, but there are clearly ones for the other episodes also.

These differ from the rules I was used to, which were more brutal for SW:TESB and included:
* anytime Luke whines or responds to R2's binary speech
* anytime Yoda talks like a fortune cookie
Those two rules alone made any Dagobah scene very demanding for drinks.
