IS THERE AN EASY METHOD FOR SHEET METAL CORNERS?

Unread post by Ömür Tokman »

Hi Guys, Good Days.
This is how SW creates the sheet metal corners and I fix them later, because in real life sheet metal cannot be formed this way with the bending method. Actually SW should be able to do it, maybe there is an easy method that I don't know.

This is how SW builds it.

then i fix it.

Hmm not sure...
If me i will most probably create using 2 Edge Flange feature (with the flange profile modified)

Hi Zhen, thanks
I am also modifying the profile, if I am going to modify the profile why use two flanges?
I can also make the elements that I show with the arrow in the sketch environment, but the different elements make my revisions easier (less mistakes after revision)

Sorry dint realize your design intent there...
Now i look at it, one edge flange feature will do.

Another method that crossed my mind is using Sketch Bend.. but it seems that it will involve more work though

I'm beginning to wonder if there is extra Kool-aid in Michigan.

How does the VAR system work with SE? I've been in touch with one company, but if I have options, I will do some research.

I'm angry and jealous. I feel like I've been thrown into the sea with my arms and legs tied.
It should have been in SW.
What if I turned the letter "w" sideways.
Does the equation below work?

We work with Geometric Solutions. They have good service and support for Solid Edge, TeamCenter, and NX. Training is not very well coordinated with Siemens corporate. If Siemens really wanted to rope in SWX users they would roll out a massive SWX-to-SE training course and would work better with their VARs to push it.

Solid Edge in a nutshell: it's very good stuff once you get over your bad habits and figure out the Siemens quirks. Getting to that point is difficult.

I think this applies to all CAD system... Once you get the hang of it, everything look promising... But getting there is really difficult and involve lots of training.
Each system had its "rule" and "workflow", SOLIDWORKS is kind of shine in this area as it is more user intuitive (well, compare to CREO, everything is more user intuitive i guess...)
The hard part is always convince your boss to send you / allocate time for training
Please dont tell me I can train "on the job" when i dont even understand the basic of the software

Frankly speaking, SE had been looking really promising, (too bad our PDM do not support SE :()
