Maybe use breadcrumbs? Not sure how LDR affects it though. Probably because, just like every other thing in Solidworks, the person in charge had different people writing code for different areas of the program....but didn't let them talk to each other. See if this does what you want. Under "Display Manager", select the "Scene, Lights, and Cameras" sub-tab. Right click "Ambient" and edit it's value. I find the default value from SW to be too dark, so I have it set to 75% in my part and assembly templates. I ama GIF. C...

Are you talking about these views?

If so, those come from 2 sources:
1) the canned views from here:

You could create a display state right before you start hiding.
Then revert to that display state to get back to what you want.

Even if you write a macro, this may be the way to do it.

If you hit CTRL + SHIFT + TAB, it temporarily shows you what is hidden, and you can select it to show it again. It won't do exactly what you want. But as far as I know it is closest. Better than SHIFT + TAB because you can select what you want to unhide and not have to cycle through the visible laye...

I get the "check your system" message almost every day and there are no red X's on mine. And the only warning is that I am not on the latest version.

Doesn't work on ANY assemblies. I get the error if File explorer is turned on at all and before i open ANY files.

I have found that sometimes it needs to be "reset"

One way to reset it is to use isometric view in the orientation toolbar. Just quickly switch to iso view, then resume working.

I don't know why this works, but it does.

If you put the spring inside a tube with a cap that is flat bottom, you don't have to worry about the helix. The tube will keep the spring aligned. You just need the tube to encompass the entire length of the spring or the coils will catch on the top of the tube.
