How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
Anybody running SW 2022 SP 5.0?
Curious to hear how stable it is.
Is there a list of bugs that it fixes?
I can't seem to find one on the SW website.
Thanks.

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
I've been a total of a day configuring and testing. I haven't crashed it yet, even on some of our more complex assemblies, so it seems more stable than 2019 SP5 that we are currently on.
Fixed SPR's are here: https://www.solidworks.com/support/subs ... fixed-spr/

Bug fixes you should be able to find https://www.solidworks.com/sw/support/downloads.htm links under the download table or try this link https://www.solidworks.com/support/subs ... fixed-spr/ (you probably need to be logged in)

Been running since its release. Definitely more stable than previous. Have not crashed once as of yet.

Eager to hear everyone's experience! We're still on 2019 SP5 but I'm hoping to move to 2022 SP5 so that we can keep up to date with CustomTools also but we're very "cautious" about it.
Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
Curious to hear to feedback also. I've got the files downloaded, planning to upgrade our office to this version soon.

Don't blame you at all. You know how many issues we have had.AlexLachance wrote: ↑Mon Nov 07, 2022 9:51 am Eager to hear everyone's experience! We're still on 2019 SP5 but I'm hoping to move to 2022 SP5 so that we can keep up to date with CustomTools also but we're very "cautious" about it.
Everything that we had issues with seems to be resolved. I can't speak to anything to do with PLM because we don't use it.
Otherwise .. its running very good for us now.

Had it since release, upgraded from 2021 SP5.

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
Well, it seems that in SP5, one of our problems are solved and another one is added to the long list.
In SP5, after mating two components, the toolbar to lock the rotation or change alignment etc stays on screen. It used to disappear since we upgraded to 2022.
and now we have another problem. When we choose "Through All" as the end condition of a straight tap, only the first sheet shows cosmetic thread. and others show only a simple hole.

-
Is it only us? or you can replicate it too?
thanks.

This seems to be a battle of SR. They implement the feature, people complain and they kill the feature. Other people complain and they re-implement the feature.
I thought there was one SP where there was a switch for this, but if so, I can no longer find it.

The software knows that a tap drill that long doesn't exist and did you a favor.

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
The story is a little bit different. They implemented the floating make concentric button, but it used to remain on screen. At times we had 5 or six of them floating around. Then they added the option you mentioned. Everything was OK and then 2022 version came along. In their new version, no matter the condition of the option, it didn't stay on screen. Any how it seems they managed the bug after more than 10 months and 5 SPs.
The problem with SW is nothing is stable. There's a good chance something that's working now, will be broken in the next version or next SP. I don't really care about what do they add or discontinue. I just say for God's sake don't break a working feature to add something new.
The option you mentioned is here:

If you would hover over those buttons that stayed on the screen they would disappear. There was no other solution.Tera wrote: ↑Mon Nov 14, 2022 8:38 pm The story is a little bit different. So now they disappear quickly?
Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
There was a time where they would (sometimes) stay on the screen until you restarted the software. It was a bug.

When I mate two components, the floating buttons (Lock rotation, change alignment etc) are displayed under the mouse pointer. It will stay there until I click it or move my mouse a little bit

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
Have been on SW 2022 (SP4) for about a month now.
About the only issues that I am experiencing are new horrible behavior of the Datums attaching to GD&T Frames in drawings.
Also (and this is not SW 2022 specific....I came from SW 2018, so it is new for me), I am finding out that the new coordinate systems are still limited. They are nice, but would like more functionality from them. Like the ability to use the 3 virtual planes and the 3 virtual axes in sketches. But so far, you have to create additional reference geometry to get that functionality.

Have you considered making your templates with these features already in place?

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
I'm having one critical problem with SW2022 SP5.0. Can someone test if it is only me or is it a real BUG?
I have same kind of Hose Assemblies (own file each) listed in BOM. They used to be in one line, but now each Hose Assembly takes own row, even if the setup is to collect them in one row (same name). This looks very bad for us!
Went back to SP 4.0 and looks fine again!

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
I found a minor bug today. I had enhanced graphics set to off. In this condition, transparency became binary. It was either solid or invisible. Once I turned enhanced graphics on, it behaved properly.

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
Similar bugs I encountered with 2021 SP4 AND 2022 SP5:
Some drawings would simply not show the model anymore if you saved it while the sheet was active.
Switching enhanced graphics to on/off would solve it.
This problem is not consistently reproduceable across our workstations (which have different graphics cards/drivers). Sometimes enhanced graphics on solves the problems - sometimes it's the other way around...
Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
Had this problem with 1 of 3 of our seats, had to call our VAR, they gave us a new link to use for the download.Tapani Sjöman wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 4:55 am Tried to download, but got an error: "Active subscription service contract required .."

Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
One of a problem I have, and it was also in 2022 SP4 when you have a more complex assembly with configurations a circular pattern would always reset back the value of the degree you type in to its initial. So, you need to delete this circular pattern and then recreate it and again for every value change
Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
After a couple of months of 2022, I can definitively say I wish I were still on 2020. I'm crashing several times a day, doing simple things like adding a view to a drawing. Yes some of the little annoying things have been fixed, but new ones have taken their place. I'm considering rolling back to SP4, I had fewer crashes with it (but I wasn't doing much with drawings, which is where I'm experiencing all of the problems.)
There are things that don't look proper with "enhanced graphics" off, but there are other things that only look correct with it on.
I don't have any empirical data to support this opinion, but I feel like working with large assemblies is slower than in 2020. (When will I stop believing that hype?) There are times where "solidworks is busy" but there is little in the task manager to indicate what is going on.

- We experience the similar problems enhanced graphics on/off
- Usually drawings have problems if we use display states & configurations together

This still happens from time to time. The breadcrumb that will only disappear by restarting the software.

@SPerman We didn't have any crash since upgrading to 2022 SP5. Not even once in all our systems.
And breadcrumb problem has been completely solved.
But our assemblies are somewhere between 300 to 500 components. Or you're working on more complicated ones.
Maybe all you need is a clean install of SP5.

I really don't understand why they don't incorporate the 'flip-alignment' and 'lock-rotation' function in the 'in context' toolbar as alredy available in the quick-mate using 'ALT+drag'. Click on the gif images below to show animations.
Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
It definitely doesn't like the cheap a$$ video card in my machine at the house. Lot's of drawing sheets with views not displayed.
Yes, I updated the drivers, but the board is several (5?) years old and has never been on the "approved" list.
I'll prolly have to bite the bullet and buy a real graphics card (Quadro....)

I switched from an AMD to an NVidia to see if that helps with my problems. The cards have similar specs, but I've been told NVidia is the better choice for SW. I haven't done enough heavy lifting yet to know if it made a difference.

Yeah, that's what I'm going to have to do. I've got a FireGL card, and it's just not cutting it.
Re: How is SW 2022 SP 5.0 running for you?
This has me thinking. We always talk about graphic card performance, yet every graphics related thread I see has nothing to do with performance as in demanding rendering of many elements to draw to the display. All the problems seem to be with simpler things that we wouldn't expect to put a load on the computing capabilities of the card's chipset. I feel that most graphics related problems are from mismatch somewhere between chipset capabilities to driver to application. My very lay comprehension is either the driver doesn't understand what the application is asking for or the chipset isn't supporting something the driver assumes is there. I think the things that most "demanding" to graphics have nothing to do with Hz or cuda cores.
