Hello guys, I'm new to forum.
I need your help with designing a linkage for opening 90° and closing. I can get it to open about 60°with my design.
I'm not sure if it's even possible. It doesn't need to be this type of linkage, it can be with more or less links. I hope you understand what I am trying to achieve.
Any help or suggestion would be nice.

Re: Linkage design
You would have to share the assembly (pack and go to zip file) for us to be able to diagnose it.
Lots of things it could be. Including, but not limited to:

- Mates are not updating properly
- interference in the total path (which looks to be part of the case in your 2nd picture)
- design issues

Re: Linkage design
Does it need to be a linkage at all?
Ideas:
- Mount a stop block on the back of the hinge to keep it from opening past 90
- Use a single link and a slider so that at the end of the travel of the slider stops the top at 90
Keep it as simple as possible IMO.

Re: Linkage design
If it has to be a linkage you start with your fixed points and draw circles to represent the bar connections. If the circles don't overlap then it's impossible and you need to make them longer/shorter.

Re: Linkage design
First, what do you want the "linkage" to do?
Hold the lid open?
Motorize to open and close the lid?
Assume only the circled link is attached.
How much force do you need to pull it straight down to open the lid?
S235JR, the lid about 200lb?
My guess is over 1000lb to pull the lid open.
6:1 ratio.

Re: Linkage design
..I think you just need to adjust your link or set a limit/stop short of the 60degs.
