SKETCH PATTERN OF BODIES IN A WELDMENT

It seems something has changed, or I am missing a checkbox somewhere...
I don't use sketch pattern very often, so this one caught me off guard.
I made the sheetmetal cover, and have weldnuts, and mounting bosses welded into the inside.
I created the hole pattern for the mounting posts, and made a sketch of points on each hole.
Then added s sketch for the length of the round tube weldment.
I then used sketch pattern to pattern the bosses to each hole.
I did similar for the weldnuts on one side, and then mirrored them over to the other side.
In both cases I ended up with a duplicate over the original patterned instance.
I don't see any option to omit the original instance.
We're on SW2021 SP5.1

To add to this...
I use feature driven patterns often in assemblies and it doesn't create a duplicate instance, so I guess I would expect this to work similarly.

Can you post the file here?

Sketch driven patterns always duplicate the original instance if there is a point at that location in the sketch. Feature driven patterns do not behave this way.

If you look at this from the help file, you will see they omit the sketch point at the seed location.

The other option is to leave the point and suppress the duplicate instance.

You can use a circle for the first point as doesn't add instance for a center point. This is a tip from old forum, maybe Dan p's?

That's exactly what I do. I use a circle for the first point.

The other issue with sketch driven patterns is that, if this is a hole, then the quantity will not be picked up at the drawing level when you place the hole callout.

It does pick up quantity. This is 2022 though....not sure when they added it.

Oh sweet. It doesn't in 2018.

Thanks for the tips guys...
I had already redone the file without using the sketch pattern, so don't have the original file to upload.
It's pretty easy to recreate, though...
